Q. What is it about accounting and consulting that first drew your interest?
In school, I chose accounting because I found it easy, although I realized later that it was not my passion. Over the years, I found myself drawn to special projects like converting to new software or designing better processes. However, had I not spent several years in traditional accounting, I would not have been able to make the leap to consulting. I love solving problems and finding new and better ways to do things!
Q. What's it like working for Armanino?
We have an incredible culture at Armanino, and I’m so proud to work here. I feel a strong sense of stability here—even as we continue to grow and expand as a firm. Even though we have close to 1,000 employees in locations across the country, I continue to feel like I’m part of a close-knit family.
Q. Describe your work style.
When it comes to solving a problem or overcoming a challenge, I like to spend my time thinking about “how will we” instead of “why didn’t we.” I focus on learning from our mistakes and moving forward.
Q. If you could go back in time and change some aspect of your life, what would that be?
Nothing. I know I haven’t done everything right, but my firm belief is that we should never have regrets. If I were to change any part of my past life, then I would possibly not be the person I am today, and I wouldn’t even change the bad stuff. Although, I wouldn’t want to relive it, either.
Q. Who is (or was) the most influential person in your life
My mother, she is the strongest person I’ve ever known.
Q. If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom to aspiring accountants or consultants, what would that be?
Do what makes you happy. If you get up in the morning saying “I have to go to work today,” then you’re not helping yourself, your peers, your family or your boss. Life is too short to stay at a job that you are not jazzed about!
