Q&A

Q. Make a prediction, describe your vision of the business future.
Our society is at an inflection point where everyone is reevaluating what we prioritize and value. Going forward, there will be more questions from investors, business partners and customers about a company’s ESG profile. Businesses will need to address how they’re leading with the values their customers and their employees share.
Q. Without naming names, tell us about your favorite client and why you enjoyed working with them.
One of my clients in the banking industry has a very entrepreneurial mindset and recruits its employees based on industry experience and skill rather than basic banking experience. That’s a characteristic of a business that isn’t satisfied with what has already worked before, but instead asks how it can continuously improve and reinvent itself. That’s the mindset I admire.
Q. What’s your proudest moment?
We flew to Germany for a long stay, and my kids handled it so well. I was very proud of how adaptable and flexible they’ve been. They’re developing skills that will help them through the rest of their lives.
Q. Who is (or was) the most influential person in your life?
My parents, who taught me confidence and independence. When it’s time to make a big decision, they’re my first counsel and my sounding board. They instilled me with a sense of family and the security to know that they are always there for me.
Q. If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom to aspiring accountants or consultants, what would that be?
There is always another day. Early in your career, everything can feel like a fire drill. There’s more to life than just work, like family. Take a step back and look at each situation and learn how to prioritize. Maybe you need to take half an afternoon off to decompress and come back to your engagement tomorrow with a fresh perspective.
