Tritech Communications is a U.S. technology systems integrator specializing in audiovisual, communications and security solutions.
After implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 FSC, Tritech needed stronger ongoing support to help its team resolve issues, evaluate options and continue improving processes as the company expanded.
Armanino’s managed services combined day-to-day support with consulting, process guidance and system enhancements to help Tritech get more from its ERP over time.
Tritech gained visibility into project and financial performance, established clearer processes and reduced its monthly accounting close from roughly 75 days to under 30.
Since its founding in 2002, Tritech Communications has grown from a cabling provider into a technology systems integrator with about 325 employees across multiple East Coast locations, from New York to Florida, as well as Texas.
As Tritech expanded, its project environment became more complex. The company manages projects worth anywhere from several thousand dollars to several million dollars, with timelines that can stretch from a few weeks to several years. Company leaders recognized that many existing processes would not support continued growth.
“We were predominantly driven by Excel spreadsheets and email between departments,” said William Ehlinger, senior vice president at Tritech. “We really wanted to be able to scale.”
Different offices and divisions had also developed their own ways of working. Accounting often had to reconcile inconsistent information, chase down details and create what Ehlinger called “Band-Aid processes” to keep projects and reporting moving.
Ehlinger described the amount of manual work involved: “Too much time filling in all the blanks, too much time creating workarounds, and way too much time for accounting to normalize everything.”
Tritech wanted standardized processes, better access to information and a system that could support future growth. So, Tritech chose Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain (FSC) as its enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution and went live in January 2024 with support from an outside provider. By then, Ehlinger had also created a Business Operations, Systems and Technology group, or BOST, bringing operations, systems and IT resources together around the new environment.
As Tritech gained experience with the new ERP, Ehlinger saw a need for more guidance on the longer-term implications of configuration and process decisions. By mid-2025, the company began looking for a different level of support that could complement its growing internal ERP expertise.
A recommendation from another technology integrator led Tritech to Armanino. After several conversations and presentations, the company selected the firm for Microsoft Dynamics 365 FSC managed services.
Managed services give Tritech access to ongoing support while allowing its BOST team to retain ownership of the ERP. Ehlinger’s business operations director and other team members work with Armanino regularly to resolve issues, get advice and make system enhancements.
At the same time, Tritech has continued building its own capabilities. Its internal team has developed Microsoft Power Apps that give project managers more direct access to project and financial information and expanded its use of Microsoft Power BI for reporting across departments.
Tritech has since renewed its managed services agreement with Armanino. As the company's internal expertise has grown, Armanino's role has evolved to provide specialized guidance and support where it delivers the greatest value.
Tritech’s prior monthly close could take about 75 days, with accounting frequently waiting on information from project management, the warehouse, accounts payable and other groups. Without consistent cutoff dates or shared access to information, delays in one area could push the entire process further out. At times, the company was effectively managing three open close periods simultaneously.
With information centralized in the ERP system and easier access to it through Power Apps and Power BI, Tritech established clearer process expectations and cutoff dates. Armanino’s consulting and coaching helped Tritech improve its accrual and accounting-close processes. Instead of repeatedly chasing missing information, accounting could see what was required and when. The result: Tritech recently completed its first monthly close in less than 30 days.
Ehlinger credits both technology and process improvements for the faster close. “When I say the system, I mean the total system — D365 plus the processes,” he said.
Before the new ERP, employees frequently had to go through accounting for project financial information. Today, managers can access that information more directly and track how their projects are performing. That matters because a successful project must also be a profitable project.
“The outcomes have always been positive for us in terms of having good projects and customer satisfaction,” explained Ehlinger. “But there's a wide range of ways to get to that point. Not all of them are financially beneficial to the company.”
Easier access to project information allows Tritech to track gross profit more closely and make better-informed decisions while projects are underway. Project managers also rely less on accounting to get the information they need.
