Q&A

Q. What is it about accounting and consulting that first drew your interest?
When I first came to America, I found out I had to file a tax return. I went to an accountant and mailed in my taxes. I found it fascinating and decided to explore a career in taxation. It was either accounting or law and I decided on accounting. It interests me because it’s a combination of creativity and math. I get to use both my left brain and right brain.
Q. What law or regulation in the accounting industry would you like to see changed?
I’d love to see more uniformity in taxation across the states. Right now states are so different in their taxation that it can get ridiculous. It would alleviate a lot of headaches if we can get some level of uniformity among the states.
Q. What keeps you up at night?
A problem I cannot solve. I am not satisfied until we can bring a high value solution to our clients.
Q. Who is (or was) the most influential person in your life
My grandmother was my role model. She carried herself with dignity and had a great attitude about life. She taught me the right way to treat people and I carry those lessons with me to this day.
Q. If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom to aspiring accountants or consultants, what would that be?
This is an industry for the intellectually curious. To succeed you have to love learning.
