Jenn McCabe

Bio

Jenn has more than 25 years of outsourced accounting and finance experience, with a particular expertise in startups and the advertising and creative production industries. She is passionate about seeing companies utilize the latest accounting technology to maximize their efficiency, productivity, and ultimately, success.

Before joining Armanino, Jenn founded and led Team Jenn Corp., a firm dedicated to the strategic financial management of startups and small businesses, offering a comprehensive back office solution with accounting, finance and HR solutions. Previous roles include stints at advertising giant Ogilvy and Mather, and in the cash management industry.

Outside of professional pursuits, she is passionate about fringe sports. To date she has made nearly 1,000 skydiving jumps. She carries the proud distinction of being a 4-Way Skydiving National Champion, which she won with three other adrenaline junkies in 1992. After that, she went on to compete at the National Triathlon Championships for several years. Jenn also climbed Aconcagua in Argentina, one of the great seven summits, without oxygen. These days she skis, scuba dives, cycles and reads a lot.

Jenn has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Pepperdine University and is a member of several professional associations including the National Society of Accountants, ProVisors and the Women's Business Enterprise Network.

It was a mix of the firm’s culture and its forward-facing vision. The leadership at Armanino understands the future of the profession. The firm is committed to investing in the newest accounting technology to increase automation, efficiency and productivity for clients.

Accounting is no longer ho-hum for today’s small businesses. With the technological revolution the profession undertook, accounting is becoming forward-facing. As more work becomes automated and financial data is available in real time, businesses can turn to their accounting partners to serve as strategic advisors who can turn this information into a plan for success.

For many years I was an avid skydiver, and I found myself with a parachute that was partially malfunctioning. That meant my prospects were 50-50 if I were to try to land with it. I had less than 6 seconds to make a decision. I could either try to land, or I could cut away my malfunctioning parachute and hope my reserve parachute functioned properly. That’s a life and death situation without time to procrastinate. I cut away and safely landed with my reserve and without broken bones.

I don’t have a favorite particular client, but I do have a favorite type of client. My favorite people to work with are nervous, and brave, small business owners who I help start a company. I enjoy those long-term relationships, when I have the honor of being their trusted partner. I love to help clients reach their goals, or get through a lucrative M&A deal. When they turn to me and say “I couldn’t have done it without you,” it’s the greatest professional satisfaction I get.

An unhappy client or staff member keeps me up. I’m not at peace until I can win back their trust, not just their business or productivity. As consultants, we’re in the business of trust. My clients count on my honest and forthright advice, so one of my biggest concerns is honoring their trust.

My dad, who was an old-time stockbroker who taught me how to throw a football and play golf with the boys. He was a smart, wise-crackin’, hilarious straight-shooter. I am proud to be my father’s daughter.

My skydiving coach, Dan Brodsky-Chenfield, shaped the way I believe in myself. When I was on a U.S. four-way skydiving team, we won the national championships under his coaching. The nature of the sport requires you to practice in your head; he taught me how to visualize successfully completing the maneuvers on the floor of my living room. I took those lessons with me when I became a national triathlete, and I use his coaching in all aspects of my life today.
