Dynamics GP Excel Copy Paste Error in 2013 R2

August 28, 2014

We recently received a call from a customer with issues using Dynamics GP Excel copy paste function. She said she did not have access to the Excel Copy Paste function in GP2013 R2. When she attempted to paste data, she received this error message: Not privileged to run this report.

Upon further review, we found that the feature is available for anyone who has access to the Transaction Entry window in GP. However, if any errors are detected in the data the user is attempting to paste, the GL Transaction Paste Validation Report will need to print.

This report is new to GP2013 R2 and is made specifically for the Excel Copy Paste feature. The report will display the data that needs to be revised in the Excel spreadsheet. If the data is correct, the GL Transaction Paste Validation Report will not appear, and the data will be pasted into the Transaction Entry window.

To resolve the error, we navigated to the Security Task Setup and added "GL Transaction Paste Validation Report" to the TRX_FIN_001* task.
