Bio

Meet Ivan

Ivan has spent over 20 years providing tax and consulting services to his clients. He specializes in working with clients in the real estate industry, including commercial and residential developers, investors, owners and operators. Ivan advises his clients on structuring transactions, acquisitions, dispositions, tax-deferred exchanges, entity selection, reorganizations, and mergers and acquisitions.

Over the years, Ivan has also worked with middle-market companies in a number of other industries, including hospitality, medical practices, automotive dealerships, gaming and technology. He has extensive experience with the taxation of partnerships, corporations, and high net worth individuals.

Ivan holds an M.S. in taxation from Seton Hall University. He also graduated summa cum laude from William Paterson University with bachelors’ degrees in accounting and finance. Ivan is a licensed CPA in California, New York and New Jersey, and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the California Society of CPAs.

Q. What is it about accounting and consulting that first drew your interest?
Accounting is a well-respected profession. If you know accounting, you can understand what a business is about financially. You can evaluate the financial health of a business and determine if it’s growing, doing well or running into trouble.
Q. Make a prediction, describe your vision of the business future.
Technology can change almost every industry very rapidly. With the constant advancements in technology, a business has to be very adaptive in order to survive. It’s one aspect of the business environment that’s not going away, it will just continue to accelerate in the future.
Q. What is the toughest decision you have ever made?
Probably moving my family out to California. I’m from the East Coast. It was a very difficult decision, but it was worth it.
Q. What keeps you up at night?
Most of the time, it’s trying to solve my clients’ problems and issues, and figure out a way to help them.
Q. Describe your work style.
Collaborative. I’m totally a team player. It’s all about the teamwork and trying to service the clients well.
Q. What’s your proudest moment?
The birth of my kids.
Q. Who is (or was) the most influential person in your life
My mom – she immigrated here to give me a better life.
Q. If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom to aspiring accountants or consultants, what would that be?
Never stop learning. Build great relationships with your clients and build a strong business network.
