Q&A

Q. What is it about accounting and consulting that first drew your interest?
When I was in undergraduate business school, consulting appealed to me because I liked the idea of work centered around problem solving and helping a variety of clients to gain both broad and deep perspective and experience. Like many of us, that drew me to the Big Four. Despite not being an accounting student, I landed in auditing, risk management and compliance through my interest in technology.
Q. What was it that drew you to Armanino?
The opportunity to help build and grow a Risk Assurance & Advisory practice based on a culture that emphasizes an entrepreneurial spirt and invests in innovation.
Q. Make a prediction, describe your vision of the business future.
The future is now. Transformational changes are already happening both in the skills needed as an undergraduate to become an auditor or consultant, and in terms of how we go about delivering our work. You have to understand technology and have the digital acumen to leverage data analytics. How we deliver our work will continue to be heavily influenced by the evolution of automation and artificial intelligence.
Q. What is the toughest decision you have ever made?
After almost 12 years at PwC, I decided I was ready to make a change and move to industry. In hindsight, it’s difficult to imagine my life both personally and professionally had I not done so.
Q. Describe your work style.
I take a measured and reasonable approach that balances my clients’ goals around risk mitigation and cost management, and I work to serve their best interests. I’ve worked on “both sides of the table,” so I bring my clients relevant experience and practical solutions, and I can empathize with the challenges they face.
Q. What’s your proudest moment?
Becoming a dad.
